Temporary interactive exhibition

- file://ZxVtM9fXFGVD39sq

Abstract

This interactive exhibition offers the public and schools a place to reflect on the theme of contagion in a double connotation: the biological contagion we fear and the social and cultural one we all need and search for as human beings.

The exhibition was created by the Institute for Research in Biomedicine and by L'ideatorio of the Università della Svizzera italiana with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project is promoted in collaboration with the City of Bellinzona, the Sasso Corbaro Foundation, and the Bellinzonese and Alto Ticino Regional Tourist Organization.

The exhibition journey

The interactive exhibition inside the Sala Arsenale of Castelgrande in Bellinzona (Switzerland) was developed to accompany the public in meeting the protagonists of contagion stories through screens and interactive stations.

The contents presented concern the most important scientific topics connected to contagion but also have an interdisciplinary value, incorporating cultural and social aspects to place scientific knowledge in a broader context of society.

The public, therefore, has the opportunity to explore the biology of viruses and bacteria and the ethics of vaccinations, delve into the history of scientific progress, and the social representations of diseases and their consequences on society.
